A hand-carved wooden stool from the French Alps, dating from the early 1900s. The seat is shaped in the form of a heart, a traditional Savoyard motif known as the cœur saignant or “bleeding heart,” symbolizing devotion and endurance. Each curve and tool mark reflects the maker’s hand, with visible texture from carving and age.

Condition: Excellent antique condition. Light wear, surface cracks, and patina throughout, consistent with age and use. Stable and sturdy, with a beautiful dark finish that highlights the grain and tool marks.
