Antique Clay Sake Warmer/ Ikebana Vase
$175.00
Traditionally known as a Hato Tokkuri, or “dove jar,” this Japanese sake pitcher was used to warm and serve sake at home. Its angled body and low stance were designed to nestle into hearth coals, with a side handle for easy pouring.
Made from unglazed earthenware, its surface shows the quiet marks of use—burnt orange tones, blackened areas, and traces of heat and time. Likely from the late 1800s to early 1900s, it’s a humble piece of rural daily life that now serves beautifully as a sculptural accent or ikebana vessel.
