This small ceramic dish was likely used for sumi ink in traditional Japanese calligraphy or brush painting. Made by a regional potter, it features a sculpted monkey figure peeking over the edge.

The dish has a hand-formed shape, with a dark clay body and soft mottled glaze inside. It can be repurposed today as a ring dish, incense tray, or simply displayed as a unique folk art object.
