Japanese Hinoki & Keyaki Vanity
This vintage Japanese vanity was found in Takayama and likely dates to the early 20th century. It’s made from a mix of Hinoki (cypress) and Keyaki (zelkova), two traditional woods known for their durability and soft, warm tones.
The tilting mirror and compact drawer design were made for use while seated on tatami, a common feature in Japanese homes. The surface shows signs of age and use, giving it a natural patina. It’s a beautiful and functional piece for storing jewelry, small items, or adding character to a bedside or dressing area.
Condition: Great vintage condition. The surface shows visible signs of age, including light scratches and wear to the finish, all consistent with its age and use. Drawers open smoothly. Mirror is detachable.
Dimensions: 17.75”L x 26.76”H x 9”W
